Professional Career

In terms of his professional career, Sports Illustrated ranked him as the 11th best running back available in the 2005 NFL Draft. He was expected to be selected early in the fourth round, and that is exactly what occurred (110th overall).

Before the 2006 season, he admitted to watching footage of renowned power running back Eddie George to improve his running technique. Eddie, like him, was a big, strong running back. During the 2006 season, Brandon carried the ball 96 times for 423 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 4.4 yards per carrying.

He also had 11 catches for 149 yards. When Tiki Barber announced his retirement during the 2007 season, he took over as the Giants’ starting running back. He injured his knee in the first game against the Dallas Cowboys, but he returned four weeks later to carry for 100 yards and a touchdown against the New York Jets.
